About The Heard Museum Guild
The Heard Museum Guild is the volunteer arm of the Heard Museum. It was formed in 1956 when a small group of women started an auxiliary organization. With a current membership of over 600 volunteers, the Guild has matured into an integral and necessary part of the Heard Museum’s operations.
Major Events
Each year, the Guild conducts three major events: its Indian Fair & Market, its annual Book Fair & Treasures Market, and its American Indian Student Art Show & Sale.
Las Guias
Many of the Guild’s members take an eight-month training program to become Las Guias, the Museum’s corps of docents.
Volunteer Service
The activities of the Guild volunteers are many and varied. Collectively each year, they provide over 50,000 hours of volunteer service.
Social & Educational Opportunities
The Guild is a social and educational, as well as a volunteer, organization. Each year, the Guild offers its members a variety of social events and educational experiences.
