Continuing Education
To Teach, One Must Learn
In supporting the Museum’s goal of educating the public about the American Indian heritage, culture, and art of the Southwest, education is a primary focus of the Guild. However, to teach, one must learn. That is why a comprehensive program of continuing education is a Guild priority. The goal is to keep its members informed, up-to-date, and fresh.
The Public is Invited
In addition to providing Guild members with a continuing education, the general public is invited to attend these programs. They include:
Public Lectures
Information on historic and modern events, the arts, tribal cultures, travel possibilities, and the current social and political scene presented by speakers who are leaders in their field.
Speakers Bureau
On request, Heard Museum guides offer lectures, power-point presentations, and hands-on programs to schools, community groups, service organizations, and businesses.
Museum Tours
Interpretive tours of the Heard Museum exhibits. Several public tours are offered daily. In addition, private group tours can be arranged in advance.
Native Peoples of the Southwest Short Course
Four half-day training sessions which cover native cultures of the Southwest from the prehistoric to the present. The public may enroll in this course.
