Heard Museum Volunteer Request

Our June event (see below) is from 10am-4pm next Saturday, June 25th. At the event, artist Duane Koyawena and engineer Joe Mastroianni will be sharing about the design process that they followed to create Hopi R2D2. R2D2 will be present in Crossroads for photo ops and we will have 2 different activities for families.

We would love to have 8 volunteers total for 2 different shifts. Please reply to Guild Communication if you are interested in volunteering. Don’t forget to specify your shift preference.

Activities: We will have a coloring station near the stairs in Crossroads featuring 4 different coloring pages including Hopi R2D2 and one with the Hopi word “nahongvitah,” which means to persevere, give 100% effort, and to be strong. We will also have a “build your own bot” station at which children and families can build robots using paper cups, cardstock, and brads. It would be great to have guild volunteers at each station engaging with the visitors, maintaining an organized space, and making sure that supplies stay at the table and don’t end up in the galleries. We will also have an art search in the gallery focusing on Hopi pottery, which inspired the designs on Hopi R2D2. This will be self-guided for families.

Thank you!!!
