Molly of Denali

Hi Guild Members,

The Museum needs volunteers for a fun activity for their August Free Family Saturday. Read about this event and watch the videos on what the kids will be creating with your help.  The event will be indoors in Monte Vista. They need lots of volunteers and have short shifts, or perhaps you want to volunteer for 2 shifts. Shifts are listed at the bottom of the email message. Please reply to dmleonte@gmail.com to volunteer and indicate the shift you want .

Here’s the details:

We are so excited to bring Molly of Denali to the Heard on her first visit to Arizona. Our partnership with PBS is helping to make this possible, and each child who comes to the event will receive a free Molly of Denali book sponsored by Delta Dental.

We will have two craft stations at the event, one for making a spotting scope, and one for making a beaded suncatcher. The spotting scope will then be used as part of our in-gallery activity that day, in which children will scour the museum looking for different animals.

Both activities will take place in Monte Vista. Having shorter shifts (with the option of signing up for more than 1) seemed to work well last time. It would be great to have 4 volunteers per shift, (2 per activity,) and shift times would be 9:45-11, 11-12, 12-1, 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4.

Thank you for sharing with the Guild and for all of your support!

Best,Lucia Leigh
