From Shaliyah’s Desk……..

Hello Everyone!

Can you or can’t you touch the Art Fence?

When the art fence was installed May of 2005 there was a general consensus that this piece would be extra special.  This piece offers our visitors an opportunity to interact with the piece and subsequently that would include it being touched. Many if not all the pieces in the museum are alive and require touch and recognition; this piece allows for that interaction that is simply unique.  Over the past 8 years the piece has fared extremely well because of its beauty that commands respect.  As Ann Marshall stated, “The extra dimension of touch is special, the piece is meant for touch and interaction” So, it is okay everyone to give the art fence some gentle TLC.

Touring on Fair Market Weekend

As usual we will have our student guides on “all hands on deck” status for Saturday and Sunday, March 1st and 2nd.  Also, because of the hustle and bustle of fair weekend I will also have student guides available Friday, February 28th.  The last tour will be the 2 pm Highlights tour on the 28th of February; the best of show reception will start at 5 pm.  I will contact those who are supposed to tour the pm of the 28th.

Good ol’ Schedule

On top of peer review requests coming in now; we also have guides that are showcasing their skills to the new Las Guias class as mentors.  Everyone is doing a great job letting me know what dates and times you need for a HOME tour.  Keep it up!

Reminders

*Please remember to check the galleries and replenish activities if necessary.

*Please rove in galleries and engage with public, please avoid standing around the info desk.

Round of Applause…..

1/14/14 – “John, Sally, and Elinor provided an insight and experience that could never be offered at school, it was a great pleasure to bring my students.” – Joseph Martinez with Willow Canyon High School, Tour in Boarding School.

2/5/14 – I received a phone call from a woman who wanted to know what days Elaine Weston tours! She had a tour with her in HOME and was impressed with her insight!

Good job everyone!

Happy Touring!

Shaliyah
